Christian Education

This Church offers a variety of christian education programs both at the church and through its Lutheran Synod and Episcopal Diocese.  Some programs are offered onoly for short periods of time, others are ongoing and permanent.

Christian Education for Children

Each Sunday there is a childrens church school beginning at 10:00 AM.  The curicumlum of this program includes explanations of the Scripture readings for that Sunday with hands on activities and age appropriate Bible story videos. 

Current plans include the addition of basic music instruction for the Preschool and elementary age children beginning with basic recorder lessons.

Adult Church School

The adult church school class meets every Sunday at 10 AM in the Parish Hall.  This class is usually taught by Pastor/Rector Calvin Girvin.  The class focuses on the scripture reading (usually the Gospel lesson) for the day with in depth discuss of its origin, historical context and theological importance.  This class involves participation an interactive discussion.

Confirmation-Refresher Course

At various times through out the year the church will offer confirmation-refresher courses to those interested.  This course is especially pertinant to those new to the Lutheran and/or Episcopal traditions.  Topics include church history, Episcopal and Lutheran beliefs and traditions, as well as discussion of importance of sacraments to our church.

Special Course Topics

At various time the church offers courses on special topics of interest to our faith community. 

Parish Lay Ministry Academy

For those with an appetite to learn beyond those offerings available at the church, the Parish Lay Ministry Academy is another resource available to our members who feel a call to assist the pastor in some way with the ongoing ministry of this faith community.  Offered by the North Texas- North Louisiana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, this program is rich in academic and practical instruction to help in the lay ministry of our church.  For more information visit the PLMA web site at http://www.plmacademy.org
